A Beauty Timeline for Your Big Occasion

A step-by-step plan for getting ready for a wedding, engagement, graduation or Eid, starting weeks ahead and ending on the day itself.

Four to six weeks before

This is the foundation stage. Skin needs time to respond to any routine, so start early with something simple and consistent: gentle cleansing, regular moisturising and daily sun protection. Avoid strong treatments or completely new products in the final weeks.

It is also the time to plan your hair. Do you want a new cut or just a trim, and is there colour that may need more than one session? New cuts usually look their best about two weeks after they are done.

Book early before busy seasons such as Eid, wedding season and graduation, when appointments fill up quickly.

Two to three weeks before

Now comes the hair and makeup trial. A trial lets you see the full look and adjust details calmly, away from the pressure of the big day. If any new products will be used, this is a good moment for a patch test.

  • Bring photos of the look you want and the colour or fabric of your outfit
  • Take photos of the result in daylight and indoor lighting
  • Note your feedback and agree on any changes
  • Confirm the appointment time and arrival time for the day

One week before

This week is for services that need a few days to settle: brow shaping, lash extensions or a lash lift, and a gentle facial if it is already part of your routine. Ask for a patch test before any lash or brow tint service you have not had before.

Nails are best done two or three days before the occasion, so they look fresh on the day.

The day before

The day before is for rest, not experiments. Skip any new service and keep preparation simple.

  • Wash your hair as your stylist advises, since some styles hold better on hair washed the day before
  • Lay out your outfit, accessories and everything you need in one place
  • Drink enough water and get an early night
  • Double-check salon times and transport

On the day

Start with a light breakfast and plenty of unhurried time. Wear a button-front shirt while your hair and makeup are done, so nothing is disturbed when you change.

Leave a buffer between finishing and the start of the occasion. It absorbs any unexpected delay and gives you a few quiet moments before you step out.
